The Next Question.

So there has been discussion about catering for the reunion, either with an outside agency or with local resources...it all needs to be paid for.

So the poll on the side is...

1. Do we require everyone to pay that wants to attend?
This could be anywhere from $15-20 per person (kids at a lower rate)

2. Do we ask for a Donation?
This would be an option for those who cannot afford a per person plate.
We can also state  a "Suggested Donation" of the amount per person it would cost.

Everyone's input is needed ;)

why don't we think about this...if there are 40 families (pretty sure that there are more)and they donate $20 or $30 dollars each that will give us a budget of $800. for that one day event. I would rather see the flyer state that there is a donation request of $20 or more per family.

My dad said to me last night to remember to keep the priority on fun!

oh ya I forgot! We really need to get everyones input on this! This is how we are having conversations, getting each others ideas, so if you are reading this, leave your thoughts and comments, I am pretty sure no one will get offended if that's what your worried about! There are several familes on this blog that haven't commented at all and it's nice to hear from different people, that's what this blog is for, that's what makes this fun!!

800.00 dollars is not alot of money. I think food and labor of the food alone is going to exceed that amount. Things are going to add up quickly. and your right im sure there are more than 40 families but what if everyone donates on the low end and we need more money as we start shopping for things needed who is to put in the additional money? I just dont think that we will raise enough money if we do it based on donations. who knows maybe we will its hard to say cause we dont know what everyone will donate. I think that a per person would work out better and i understand that your thinking about the families that may not be able to afford it and hopefully thats not the reason they dont go but maybe we can have like an adopt a family and someone else can pay for them. And if there is money left over we can use it for the next day event whether we go to the waterslides, bowling or just hang out and barbecue. I dont know this is just my opinion what does everyone else think? Speak up dont be shy.

I was just thinking that also Lisette, what happens if we don't get all the donations from everyone!! this is really hard, because I don't want to offend anyone. ahhhhh!!! and it's really hard to decide if we don't get everyone's input! I don't wanna guess or assume how families feel or what they think.
Your right everything will add up qickly, so as soon as we get a definite answer aboutpricing for a cater or Adam's cost we will get a better idea.

P.S I would Love if we had extra $ and we could rent the Kingsburg High School Pool on that Sunday... so much fun!!!, but maybe we should try to get the first event accomplished!! AYE!

I think the asking a donation is looking better to me... I think it is how we state it also...the invite can say something like..

Suggested Donation;
$20 per Adult
$10 per child ages 4-16

I believe everyone will donate more than what is suggested..maybe it comes down to ediquette and how it is asked..besides is grandma going to pay for herself? LOL...

well... I see the positive side of required, but it just seems to harsh... will we really deny access to the reunion if you don't pay? No, people will just talk about how that person didn't pay and I can't believe they showed up!!...We don't want any of that drama, just because they can't afford it or spent a bundle just coming to California.

I also think that everyone knows that putting this on costs money...and unless there is a billionaire in the family we all are paying for it.

And yes there are going to be hidden costs.. I have already taken the responsibility for the invites..if that is ok.. I love doing them and can get great deals in the bay area. I have no intention of getting reimbursed for it at all... I just want to see the reunion happen so I am willing to give more that what is asked of me. do most people see it this way? I get the feeling that Adam and Alex do..Yvonne also

Great conversations...keep it going...

Thanks Beckie for wanting to do the invites, I know they will turn out awesome! You are very creative! Let me know and I can help you mail them out!!

Yvonne, we know about a couple mexican resturant that have good food for a decent price we should get together and try them. One is in reedley (juanito's),and the other one is in orange cove (cj's). Anyone that wants to go and try the food is invited.

That would be nice! Call me so we can ge together and check it out and get prices!!

Great imput everyone. I see where Lisette is coming from. The one thing we have on our side is time. Although we shouldn't sit on our hands, and I don't think we are, there is some time to see how this all plays out. We don't have to pay for the gun club untill after the party if we want. Even the deposit is my word. No matter how many people show up the cost is still the same, $150.00. The food cost goes up as the head count goes up. My idea is to budget and set goals. The next question on the family quiz you guys are playing is, how many Garza's are there. How many house holds is that. Sorry Cindy when you get married you are your own and don't get to slip in with your mom and dad;)The goal parts should be broken down by dates. Example; At the end of Jan. we should have 25% of the family responce to attendence. If our money goal is $2000.00, then by the end of Jan we shoud have $500.00. If we don't, the ones who are in have to put out more, or we re-adjust our goals. If you are looking for someone to step up and say.. "well I don't have enough money" on the internet, I don't think you are going to find one. No one wants to be a party pooper. The holiday's are coming up and things get expensive. Lets brain storm and research in Dec, and fund raise in the new year. People get Christmas money, tax returns, bonus money ect. One suggestion for my generation of the family is, instead of giving your mom and dad a xmas present, save that money and send a check to Daya, if she shows up. JK:) I know my mom would rather have that money "adopt" as Lisette said, some one else in the family in her name. What do you guys think? Oh ya and Becky you don't get to pay for anything on your own, although you might get a break on invitations, postage is expensive, and more so if you have some crazy size. this is a collective effort.

I love all this input!! great ideas everyone!

Beckie is our family really that caddy that there would be some people talking about who didnt pay and had the nerve to show up? If so WOW that's really sad and I see your point trying to prevent that drama but if that's the case people will be talking no matter what and who is to stop them about talking about how so and so only donated this much for his or her family of 6. I think you guys are worrying to much about not wanting to sound harsh or offend anyone. I dont see how anyone could get offended becuase It is what it is and its going to cost and like Beckie said no one is a billionaires and we all need to come together financially. So whether is a per person fee or donations I hope everyone understands and doesnt take it personal. Aye Aye Aye is right Yvonne this is hard it would be great for others who havent posted to provide feedback just to see where everyone is coming from on this subject cause its a tough one. alright theres my 2 cents. Everyone have a very Happy Thanksgiving.

I hope no one takes this personally either.. this is the only way to talk about the issues that no one wants to talk about, but needs to be asked.

My hope is that no one is offended in this process.
My hope is that everyone can attend.
My hope is that we are fussing over nothing and the Lord will bless us with what every we need.

Larry and Yvonne said...

I know I will be the first person talking about people!! ha ! ha! just kidding! I had to throw that out there!!

Henry and Esther said...

Ok guys first lets get prices on how much. Adam find out how much ur friends will charge. Lets get together next week and try one of the mex. resturants and find out what the price is for catering. Then we can go from there.

sounds like a plan... i like it..

this all sounds great and fun.. the gun event sounds so great... as does mexican food... yumm... and back to the $800... ya not enough... i like the donations.. seriously its not THAT much! especially if this is a one time thing... and also if we dont have to do much but enjoy everyone's company and be the crazy selves we are. easy.

Larry and Yvonne said...

Thanks jacque for your input!

Kique or esther set a date and time and let us know where to meet! Dinner together would be nice to talk about stuff face to face :)

Henry and Esther said...

Well come on down, we'll wait for you.

Amy Crandell said...

I agree with Jacque. It's not that much. I think that Beckie's comment about having it as a suggested donation is good, that way people who can't afford it don't have to stress out or feel like they aren't welcome. I know that Craig and I can afford to "sponsor" another family if needed and I'm sure there are other families out there who can as well. Let me know if there is anything I can do. I know I'm not in Cali, but whatever I can do to help make this happen I'll do.
